Egypt blocks the ship “Ever Given”, in exchange requires 900 million dollars


An Egyptian court upheld a ruling preventing the giant container ship that blocked the Suez Canal from leaving the country after authorities demanded more than $ 900 million in compensation from the owners.

The decision was announced on Tuesday, May 4 by a court in the city near the Ismailia canal, following a legal appeal. Ever Given with a length of 400 meters is owned by Shoei Kisen Kaisha of Japan Ltd. and was being leased by Taiwan’s Evergreen Line when it was blocked at the southern end of the canal for six days in March.
